![]() I haven't tried to run Linux version I was always under the impression you can choose to run Linux version from Steam (as Steam does say they have a Linux version) but I don't really see an option for this, perhaps there's a launch command? Also default settings are rather terrible so you will want to figure that out in Steam Input. Voila! You want to run it in Proton since it has a lot better performance compared to Linux Runtime although, the kind gentleman who helped me figure this out says other versions of Linux Runtime might have a better performance but these don't come with the Steam Deck so you'd have to get them yourself. In video settings set everything to lowest possible settings. ![]() The game should launch on Proton just fine now. Exit the game, turn off the "force the use of a specific compatibility tool for this game" setting. This creates a folder in /home/.local/share/Paradox Interactive for eu4 (this is sort of an equivalent of AppData folder from windows, to my understanding).ģ. Launch the game, it should take you to launcher, hit play, should open up the game. Use "force the use of a specific compatibility tool for this game" and set it to Steam Linux Runtime.Ģ. I suppose beta build of SteamOS might help? but honestly I don't think so.ĭoes anyone have any knowledge on how to get my addiction (eu4) going on a Steam Deck?ġ. I've had this thing for a day so maybe I'm missing something but I tried regular proton, experimental, GEproton 7-28 and 7-14 (just picked random older version), both in game mode and desktop mode, ran it fullscreen, windowed, borderless, I tried the -skiplauncher command but that doesn't do anything and at that point I really don't know what else I can do. Game page says it's unsupported but I have seen a handful of people run it. After a year of waiting I got myself a Steam Deck and I always wanted to run EU4 on it.
